Turning the Tables

By now, we all know I’m no longer with a publisher and am officially an indie author. I released my first independent book, Turning the Tables, on Wednesday, July 1.

Here’s the blurb:

Cash Dunleavy is a frustrated DJ living in Portland. Her career is going nowhere fast. After spending a week in Puerto Vallarta visiting her best friend and getting the opportunity to play for packed clubs, she makes the decision to move to Vallarta to finally fulfill her dream of being a full time DJ.

Jessica Byrne was once in a relationship that seemed to be never ending. She and Natalie bought property in the jungle outside of Puerto Vallarta and built a resort. Natalie left Jessica abruptly. Jessica, with no financial help, no relationship, and not much of a staff, still believes in the resort. She pours all her energy into it. One thing she does not believe in though, is relationships.

When Cash sees Jessica, she sees a quest. When Jessica sees Cash, she sees a cocky masc who she has zero tolerance for. As they each follow their respective dreams, will they find room for romance? Or is their personal success the only important thing?

Does this sound interesting to you? I will warn you, it’s a regular romance, not of the erotic nature! I had more fun writing this. I wrote about half of it while I was living on a resort in the jungle outside Puerto Vallarta (Altho I’m NO Ice Queen! LOL)

Our son, Caleb was in a deep, dark depression when I started writing this. The DJ was actually his idea. Via text, he helped me understand what the DJ would feel during performances. What songs would be good to open with. What romantic songs would someone dedicate to someone to make an impression. Over several months, I believe helping me write this book gave him a purpose he needed and helped him realize life was worth living. It had been touch and go for a while there.

I dedicated this book to Caleb and owe him a debt of gratitude for all his help. I’m working on another book now that’s also set in Puerto Vallarta. It’s got one sex scene so far. I think it’ll have more sex in it than Turning the Tables, but I still don’t think it’ll be an erotic romance.

Similar to Turning the Tables, this new book is an enemy to lovers book. I like writing these cuz you get all the angst out in the beginning and can let your characters grow together without following old fashioned formulas.

Turning the Tables is available on Amazon and Apple. I’ve also requested it be added to Goodreads.

Thank you for reading and please check out Turning the Tables. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Would love to hear from you. What are your thoughts?
